A surrendered Intellect! | Samarpan Bhaav

Baba says in the Murli many times to us children that:

“You had promised in Bhakti, that when you (God) will come, I will surrender myself to you. God, Baba has come to remind you of that promise”

Why does Baba wish to remind us about the promise?

When I say surrender to Him, it means I say that everything I have; my body, mind, wealth, relations, problems, issues all belongs to Him, and He belongs to me…. This samarpan bhaav is actually the essence, the secret of constant fast Purusharth!

Here is how:

Body

1. When the body is mine, I can use it in unhealthy ways, e.g., For my pleasure, I could eat more fried food, ice cream, etc without caring for the body
When the body is Baba’s, I am a trustee, can’t use this body in unhealthy ways, because body is His, to be used in His Ishwariya Seva

2. When I consider the body His in a genuine deep way; the attachment to the body, the feeling of mine starts reducing. This is a very subtle point, which makes it much easier to experience soul consciousness. And soul consciousness is the basis of a Yogyukt life, the basis of all divine virtues, the basis for success in seva. Hence, this feeling that this body is Baba’s makes everything easy.

Mind

1. When my mind is Baba’s, I will fully follow Baba’s Shrimat and not manmat or parmat.
This will ensure:
a. No doubts on effectiveness or practicality of Shrimat
b. No excuses regarding Purusharth

 2. Slowly, my opinion too will start becoming aligned with Shrimat e.g., Before, on hearing about need to come daily to class, it seemed difficult; now due to personal experiences & transformation even our mind says come daily to class.

Wealth

When the wealth is Baba’s:
1. Will never use it in wrong ways
2. Will not earn wealth by giving pain to others, or disturbing anyone
3. Will ensure no dishonesty related to wealth e.g., Tax matters

Relations

Just need to check, whether the friends & relatives are mine or are they Baba’s children? Whose are they more? All are Baba’s, they belong to Him..

The more I remind this to myself, the more worriless and detached I become. This makes me more capable to fulfill responsibilities & take care, to keep giving, leading to harmony in relationships.

Seva

1. When I deeply remember that Baba is the doer, I am just the instrument, it frees from any burden, worries, etc related to seva. This lightness increases efficiency, leading to success in seva.

2. When I remember Baba is the doer, it becomes easier to receive His touchings, making seva successful.

Work

When we do work as a trustee, keeping Baba alongside; we remain light, free from hard work, burden & tiredness..

As Baba says, when we keep Baba alongside rather than being alone, it’s like two people doing one work, which halves the efforts. This actually refers to the fact that sthiti becomes very good with Baba alongside; enhancing our capacity, efficiency, intuition & hence reducing the efforts required.

Conclusion (A surrendered Intellect!)

Thus, in essence, when we convert Mine to Yours, we become free of worries, Befikra Baadshah, this gives a big boost to our progress.

Hence, Baba is reminding us of the promise. Baba is the Giver, He doesn’t want anything from anyone. He’s just reminding because this Dharna will make everything easy, and Purusharth speedy!

Om Shanti!

The essence of all knowledge – Mera Baba

The essence of all knowledge – Mera Baba

These days, Baba is perfecting one point to us – Mera Baba

This point might seem very simple, but it’s actually the essence of everything Baba has shared so far.

When God says something, & He repeats it, & also keeps repeating it across seasons, indeed it must have some deep important meaning behind it.

Hence, let’s explore!

Everything His is Mine

If Baba is mine, everything that belongs to Him is also mine:

  • All His qualities – Knowledge, Purity, Peace, Love, Bliss, Power
  • All His powers
  • All His Knowledge
  • His complete inheritance
  • His Home (both soul & subtle world)
  • All relations with Him – Mother Father Teacher Satguru Friend Beloved Guide

When I am the Master of so much, so happy, could any objects, people, body or anything from the old world attract me?   This brings a natural state of detachment, boosting our spiritual progress

Essence of all subjects

Mera Baba is the essence of each subject we practice

Gyan

1. When we are in the awareness that Baba is mine, we are confident that even if any external challenging situation or people comes, I am protected… Hence, जहाँ बाप है वहां बात हो नहीं सकती।
2. When Baba is in my heart, I keep remembering Him, this Yog actually helps to better & more deeply understand Gyan

Yog

1. Yog is the solution to all problems, and relation is the basis of yaad, & it’s the relationship which Baba is making very strong by focusing on Mera Baba and Mere Bacche
2. When Mera Baba is in my heart, will easily & frequently be able to remember Him throughout the day, He will always be very near to me
3. Any practice (अभ्यास) or Purusharth won’t seem difficult, as it will take me towards Mera Baba. योग में कमी, माना प्यार में कमी। जहाँ मोहब्बत है, वहां मेहनत हो नहीं सकती।

Dharna

Mera Baba is the essence of every dharna we practice

1. When Mera Baba is in my heart, I will naturally remember Him at start of day, my Intellect will automatically go towards Him while eating, will definitely sleep in His Remembrance
2. Loving Baba means loving everything He says. Hence, when Baba is in my heart, there will be complete regard for Shrimat. We will like what He likes, we will follow only Him
3. When Mera Baba is in our heart, automatically our virtues & acts also become like Him

Seva

1. When Mera Baba is in my heart, will automatically remember He is the doer, I am just the instrument. This automatically frees from burden & makes us light, efficient hence successful
2. When Mera Baba is in my heart, those vibrations, the face, the character everything will automatically attract all towards Him. Hence, when He is in our heart, it automatically ensures that He comes in the hearts of all.
When Mera Baba is in my heart, my words (lectures) will be filled with Baba, touching everyone’s hearts and making everyone belong to Him
3. Even if any issue comes in seva, we will have inshakeable faith that everything will turn out to be perfect, since He is the doer!

Essence of Knowledge

A for Atma, Who am I? I am the one who sits on the heart-throne of Baba
B for Baba, Who is He? He is Mine

Hence, when I remain in this awareness, automatically my battery will keep getting charged (due to yaad), & also ensure that the energy is not wasted (due to soul consciousness)

Hence, this will ensure a stable charged battery, this is Satyuga!! Because Satyuga is also about soul’s battery fully charged,
& we will also automatically be instrumental in the charging of other batteries, hence actually bringing Satyuga. That’s when as Baba says, Satyuga is very near

Hence C for cycle.

And if we ensure this awareness of A & B, automatically in every repetition of the drama (D for Drama), we will be victorious!

If I am His & belong to Him

Body (तन)

a) My body also belongs to Him, can’t come in body consciousness… If body His, I am just a soul… Everything connected to body is His
b) Mera Baba in my heart will ensure happiness in the mind, this is the best diet & medicine for the body!

Mind (मन) & Intellect

a) My Mind & Intellect belongs to Him, hence can’t follow anything except Baba’s Shrimat.
b) Intellect will keep visualizing Him (both incorporeal and Avyakt)

Wealth (धन)

a) When am deeply connected with Baba, automatically my work efficiency will increase
b) Wealth will be used for the benefit of all!
c) Wealth will be managed with full honesty

Relations (सम्बन्ध) & Interactions (सम्पर्क)

When He is in my heart, am full of His qualities, automatically I will give rather than take in interactions leading to beautiful relationships

It’s time!

The changing focus by Baba also signals that’s it’s now nearing the final time. When exams are near, parents teachers don’t ask to study, study is already done by then, it’s now just about trust, giving love & enhancing self respect, to ensure success in the exam! And indeed, if we ensure we have kept Mera Baba in our hearts, we will surely pass with flying colors!

Om Shanti!

Understanding Karma Yog, in very simple terms!

Understanding Karma Yog, in very simple terms!

Introduction

There are 2 ways in which we do Yog:

  1. By sitting specially for Yog
  2. While doing actions, which is called Karma Yog

In order to have a good Yog chart, It is essential to focus on both these aspects of Yog.

Before discussing about Karma Yog, it’s very important to understand a fundamental principle.

Main Principle

The actions we do & the thoughts we create are two largely different aspects. Hence, while doing a routine act which is part of our daily routine, the mind is not required much & is largely free. Hence, it can create thoughts which are independent of the act we are doing.

E.g. 1) Sometimes when there’s a problem, argument, etc at home, even while working in office, the thoughts regarding the problem goes on in the mind.
2) When there’s a get-together or event at home in the evening, even while working in office, planning of the event goes on in the mind

Hence, in most of the activities we do daily, the mind is largely free, ready to accept instructions. But, if we do not give instructions, what will happen?

E.g., If one of your employees has no work currently and is free, and you do not give any work to him, what will he do? Definitely he will look for other things to do, which are perhaps largely unproductive or wasteful in nature.

Similarly, the mind is largely free, but because of lack of this awareness, we don’t give any instructions to it. This is one of the major reasons why the mind tends to involve itself in waste thoughts.

Karma Yog just means giving a specific Smriti to the mind, to be remembered while doing actions.

Examples

There are many such smritis we can use:

  • The Almighty Authority is my Companion
  • I belong to Baba, Baba belongs to me
  • I am under Baba’s canopy of protection
  • I was a complete, full of all virtues, deity in Satyuga
  • I am going to become a complete, full of all virtues, Deity
  • Out of so many souls, Baba has chosen me, adopted me, made me His
  • I am Baba’s child
  • Etc

Sources

  • The daily Murli
    • We could use the Murli Essence, the Dharna points, slogan, etc as different Smriti points.
    • The daily Murli provides several smritis to us daily.
  • The various Swamans Baba gives us, e.g., Master of all Powers, Multimillion times fortunate, etc.
  • The various titles of Baba, e.g. He is Dilaram, the Comforter of Hearts
  • Our various relations with Baba e.g. He is my Beloved

How it works

Here, it is appropriate to understand an interesting phenomenon:

Time-bound

Sometimes, when we aim to do a particular Purusharth for an indefinite period of time, the motivation for the same tends to be low. However, when we make the same time-bound, e.g. For the next 1 hour, I will keep this Smriti in my Intellect, then the motivation & commitment automatically tends to be higher.

Now, the way we are benefited by keeping such Smritis in mind during work is:

  • During this hour or time period, in order to maintain the memory of the Smriti, we tend to create the same thought many times. And as is the thought, so is the feeling. As is the Smriti, so is the sthiti, i.e., the state of mind.
  • We also tend to do some basic churning through the period e.g. If Baba is my companion, there is no need to fear, etc.
  • Because we have given a specific instruction to the mind, there is much less scope for waste thinking

Collectively, these factors help to maintain a high, elevated state of mind even while performing actions!

Time Table

A very good idea to make this practice of keeping Smritis natural is:

Many VIPs have their whole timetable of actions in a day set out, e.g., 8 to 9 attend this meeting, 9 to 10 work on this project, etc.

Similarly, we too are Baba’s VVIPs, hence along with our planning of the actions to do throughout the day, we could also set out in advance the smritis we will practice every hour, every 3 hours, etc.

e.g.

8am to 9am: I am the Master of all Powers, Master Sarvashaktivaan

9am to 10am: I am the Child of the Ocean of Peace, etc.

Om Shanti!

Taking, Giving & Inculcating soul-conscious drishti

Taking, Giving & Inculcating soul-conscious drishti

Giving drishti simply means seeing others as pure souls, which radiates pure vibrations to them.

In our organisation, there’s this wonderful practice of taking drishti from senior instrument teachers before important events, when taking toli (prasaad), etc.

Even when God descends in His chariot, the first thing He does is give us drishti i.e., sees us as souls.

It helps us easily experience vibrations of purity, peace, love & happiness, and gain power.

Taking drishti

In order to gain maximum benefit, here’s the best technique of taking drishti:

Taking drishti from God, when He descends or in meditation or through photo of Baapdada

Establish yourself in a soul-conscious state, then:

  • Look at His eyes
  • With the awareness that the Supreme soul (from the centre of the forehead) is looking at me
  • And try to keep the mind as silent as possible, to gain maximum benefit
  • You’ll naturally start experiencing His cool vibrations

If needed, to help experience, we may:

  • Create thoughts such as:
    • I am the Light of God’s eyes
    • He is looking at me with so much love
    • His drishti is very loving, powerful & 100% soul conscious, making me also soul conscious
    • Vibrations of purity & peace are reaching me
  • Visualise subtle rays of soft white light coming from His forehead to us

Along with taking drishti, we can remember the different things that Baba has told us through Murli & Vardaan card, His hopes & aspirations for us, what He must be thinking of us at this time, etc and also talk to Him. This gives a range of very personalised, beautiful experiences.

The face (and eyes) are the index of the mind i.e., our thoughts, attitude & state of mind are reflected through our face & eyes. Hence, taking drishti from God is one of the best & easiest ways of experiencing His very elevated vision & pure feelings for us.

Taking drishti from Instrument Teachers

Even when we take drishti from instrument teachers, we should consider it’s God who’s giving me drishti, also perhaps seeing the face of BaapDada alongwith.

Giving drishti

We use all 3 faculties of the soul; Mind (thoughts), Intellect (visualisation) & Sanskars (experience):

  • See him/her as a soul, a tiny point of light sparkling in the centre of the forehead
  • Create thoughts such as he’s a pure soul, peaceful soul, God’s child, God’s vibrations of love are reaching him, etc [See List of thoughts below]
  • Try to gently experience the thoughts created

What we experience inside is the vibrations radiated outside to the soul. Hence, the more regular & deeper our practice of meditation, the quicker & more powerful are the vibrations while giving drishti.

This is the reason why it’s a very good practice to take drishti from senior experienced meditators, since their powerful stage & experiences over the years results in powerful vibrations which benefit us.

List of thoughts to create while giving drishti

There’re a wide variety of thoughts that can be created while giving drishti:

  • He’s a pure soul, peaceful soul, loveful soul, blissful, powerful, etc
  • He’s a sparkling star, divine light, conscient being, master of the body, seeing through the eyes, etc
  • God’s powerful vibrations of purity, peace & love are reaching the soul
  • He is God’s child, God has specially chosen him, God’s special Jewel
  • Being child of One Father, we are brother souls; we are One
  • He’s a divine soul, was & will become full of divine virtues again
  • Thoughts regarding specialities of the specific soul e.x., Very caring, supportive, etc or what Baba has said to that soul through Vardaan card

Inculcating a natural soul-conscious drishti

While the above applies to the specific case of giving drishti when someone requests for it, God gives the Shrimat (elevated direction) to us, of maintaining a natural soul-conscious drishti in each of our interactions, with everyone we meet.

This doesn’t mean continuously looking at the soul as point of light. It just means creating the required thoughts & maintaining the very pure spiritual awareness that the one whom I’m interacting with is a soul, which makes our state of mind and hence the interaction very pure, light & fruitful.

Hence, here are some best practices for inculcating this very elevated virtue:

1. Interactions, Phone Calls & Text Chats

While our aim is to maintain a soul-conscious dristhi throughout our interactions, a good way to start is by focusing on the start & end of interactions:

  • Before or just after starting an interaction, phone call, text chat, etc, create one of the above thoughts e.x., He’s a pure peaceful being
  • After finishing the interaction & waving goodbye or putting down the phone, create a soul-conscious thought for that soul. Then, take the learning from the interaction and put a full stop, this ensures our stage remains as elevated as before
  • Even between interactions, especially long interactions, we could create a few soul-conscious thoughts in between to maintain this very pure elevated awareness

2.Talking

Whenever we speak i.e., words come out from our mouth, always keep the awareness I’m speaking to the soul i.e., my words are being directed to the soul & it’s the soul who’s listening.

This is a very simple & very powerful technique of maintaining soul consciousness in interactions.

3. Specialities

Along with maintaining a soul-conscious drishti, God’s Shrimat tells us to always look at specialities & virtues of the other soul.

Hence, it’s a very good idea to write down 2-3 specialities of each soul we come into regular contact with. Then, each time we interact with them, keep these specialities in awareness. This keeps our interactions very elevated & free from waste.

General

The above points may seem and are closely connected, but working on each of these separately helps us develop a powerful stage, and gives variety in our spiritual efforts.

Other Applications of soul-conscious drishti

This approach of giving drishti i.e., vibrations can be applied to a variety of cases, benefitting us in numerous ways:

  • God’s Shrimat tells us to always eat in a meditative state of mind; one of the techniques for this is giving drishti to food & water before consumption; i.e., looking at the food & creating thoughts like:
    • I’m a pure soul
    • Vibrations of purity are getting absorbed in the food
    • God’s peace & love is getting filled in the food
    • etc
  • After or during our meditation, it’s a very good practice to emerge & give drishti to souls we come into regular contact with, and those we have a tough karmic account with; this helps make our relations very smooth, flowing & beautiful
  • While listening to Murli, we could see BaapDada in front of us, giving drishti and speaking to us. This gives a range of deep varied experiences

Benefits of soul-conscious drishti

Benefits to the Self:

  • Keeps our state of mind very pure & elevated, hence we easily experience peace, lightness, love & joy
  • Makes our words & behaviour very sweet, royal & full of respect for all
  • Ensures our thoughts for others remain clean & pure, which significantly improves our relations with minimal effort, since thoughts are the foundation of relationships

Benefits in Interactions:

  • Provides powerful empowering vibrations to the other soul, like a current of powerful energy
  • Radiates continuous pure elevated vibrations, hence making:
    • Our interactions very light, fulfilling and full of satisfaction & blessings
    • The atmosphere around very pure & powerful, which benefits all
  • It’s one of the easiest techniques of combining service through words & service through mind; our words touches people’s hearts and they’re able to easily understand & appreciate our sharings
  • Acts as a powerful shield of protection against any overpowering, waste, negative or impure influence of others; even transforming the attitudes of others
  • When we see others as souls, we remain aware they’re on a long journey with different experiences, hence we’re able to accept & understand even their very different sanskars
  • When we see others as souls, we rise above temporary labels of achievements & position, physical appearance, age, etc which no longer unduly affect us. Hence, we’re able to maintain our constant flow of true respect & pure elevated vibrations towards them

Benefits related to Meditation / God:

  • It’s also a technique of meditation, hence we get all the benefits of meditation
  • Then later when we sit specially for meditation, since our stage has already remained so elevated throughout in interactions, connecting to God & experiencing all His qualities becomes very easy & natural
  • Since God’s drishti is always 100% soul conscious, it’s one of the ways to Follow Father & become equal to Him

Om Shanti!

Understanding the subject of Gyan

Understanding the subject of Gyan

Our spiritual study can be divided into 4 subjects:

  • Spiritual knowledge (Gyan)
  • Meditation (Yog)
  • Inculcation of divine virtues (Dharna)
  • Service (Seva)

Hence today, let’s explore the 1st subject Gyan!

What is Gyan?

Gyan means understanding of the truth, which can be summarized as… The knowledge of:

  • A = Atma i.e., soul
  • B = Baba i.e., our Supreme Father, the Supreme Soul
  • C = Cycle of Time
  • D = Drama

A = Atma i.e., soul

The knowledge of the soul can be summarized, in essence, as:

  • The energy which uses the body, Master of this body
  • A tiny point of light, situated in the centre of the forehead
  • The energy which thinks, decides, & comes into action through the body
  • Originally full of knowledge, purity, peace, love, happiness, bliss & power
  • Originally a resident of soul world, having come down to play it’s imperishable part in this world drama
  • Can be best understood with the example of Car & Driver, denoting Body & Soul respectively!

B = Baba i.e., our Supreme Father, the Supreme Soul

The knowledge of the Supreme Soul, can be summarized as:

  • A tiny point of light
  • Resident of soul world
  • Ocean of All Virtues (Knowledge, Purity, Peace, Love, Happiness, Bliss) & Powers
  • Comes at the end of Kaliyuga in the old body of Prajapita Brahma, transforms humans to deities (& thereby Kaliyuga to Satyuga) by sharing spiritual knowledge & teaching Rajyoga Meditation
  • This small phase of time (of God’s descent) between end of Kaliyuga & start of Satyuga, is called the Kalyankari Purushottam Sangam-yug
  • Name is Shiv (means point, peace & benefactor)… Not to be confused with Shankar, who’s always shown as a different entity meditating on the Shiv Ling!

C = Cycle

The world time cycle consists of 4 (or 5) phases.. Satyuga, Tretayuga, Dwaparyug, Kaliyuga (& this small Sangamyug) :

  • In Satyuga,
    • Souls are 100% charged, body is perfectly healthy, mind always happy, wealth limitless, relations sweet, nature perfect & happiness-giving
    • There’s one religion language & kingdom, ruled by Lakshmi Narayana as emperor & empress
  • In Tretayuga,
    • There’s a very slight decline.. In other words, souls are now 14 celestial degrees complete (as compared to Satyuga when souls are 16 celestial degrees complete)
  • In Dwaparyug,
    • Souls start falling into body-consciousness, hence vices (lust, anger, greed, attachment, ego), hence sorrow
    • And when souls experience sorrow, they remember their Supreme Father.. Hence, we start remembering God, build temples, etc
    • Our holy fathers (Abraham, Gautam Buddha, Mahavir, Jesus Christ, Mohammed, Shankaracharya, etc) come & give the message of humanity.. Later takes the form of different religions / paths
    • Saints at this time write down all the scriptures (Ramayan, Mahabharat, Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, etc)
  • In Kaliyuga,
    • Souls go deeper into body-consciousness, vices & sorrow
    • Religion & governments become weak.. Soul’s battery becomes almost negligible
    • Science becomes very powerful.. Souls become almost completely dependent on matter
  • In Sangamyug,
    • As promised, God comes & starts sharing His spiritual knowledge, establishing this Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University
    • Through spiritual efforts, innumerable souls get transformed from humans to deities
    • In the end, destruction (i.e., transformation) of the old world through nuclear missiles, natural calamities & civil wars
    • Establishment of the New Golden Aged World

D = Drama

  • This cycle of time keeps repeating infinitely… i.e., Satyuga becomes Kaliyuga, then Sangamyug, then again Satyuga & so on!
  • Every moment & scene of the world drama repeats ‘as it is’… And every scene is accurate & beneficial
  • Every soul’s role in this world drama is fixed, which keeps repeating

Excelling in the subject of Gyan

The best practices for excelling in the subject of Gyan are… A daily practice of:

  • Listening to spiritual knowledge (i.e., the Murli class, God’s direct elevated versions) with attention
  • Revising & Churning on the spiritual knowledge heard (vichar sagar manthan)
  • Implementing the knowledge, in meditation (Yog) & in practical life (Dharna)

Later, we’ll explore the subjects of Yog, Dharna & Seva in depth!

Om Shanti!
